Biography: 
Qianmiao Xu as an animator and illustrator, enthusiastic to experiment difference techniques and playful creating process, her art works characterized by its innocence and abstract visual, child-friendly theme.

Artist/Director Statement: 
In my film Fruita, it inspired by John Berger’s article Fruit as remembered by the dead, it brings idea that narrative a story about fruits and oblivion. People sometime memories of fruits, is what they happened with those fruits, therefore, if "fruit" as a media to help people got comfort of oblivion? My aim to create a child-friendly animation, to exploring fragmentary trace that left by oblivion in our life, and encourage people have positive coexist with it.

Around it, this film with characters and background in low modality, scrapbook as mainly visual art, it does not have one specific artistic approach, many difference scene connect it, this fragment combination characterized by it communicate a confuse, fuzzy but innocence mood responded my intention of exploring oblivion's delicate visual.

Music and sound are also important to set my mood. Staccato appearing music and voice narrated story, also voice imitated environment sound, create a relax and atmosphere, creating a comfortable sensory experience.

This film I am investigating low modality aesthetic, and curiosity of experimental animation. Meanwhile, I hope audience realize that oblivion is necessary and fine, it is our growing trace. Enjoying daily life journey, all memories as fruits pip hide in our mind, they will be growing one day.

Sustainability: 
During creation of my film “Fruita”, I considered my chosen material impaction to environment. In specific, the film rolls animation part, I handmade film roll rather than buy it, and drawing with gouache, which could wash and re-useable. Also, I did not choose specific material or paper, this film combines digital and hand drawing. Using difference loose wastepaper, scan their texture edit many editions to use, it reduces use of paper and create unique visual art.
